Kenneth James Klaus

Kenneth James Klaus, 88, of Salina, passed away at his home on February 2, 2026.

Ken was born on August 3, 1937, in Antonino, Kansas, to Martin and Felicitas (Leiker) Klaus. He grew up alongside his sister, Ann, and brother, Harold.

On January 9, 1960, Ken married Bernice (Dinkel). Together, they built a life and raised three children.

Ken took great pride in caring for his lawn and garden and enjoyed restoring antique tractors. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bernice, of Salina; sons Leon (Mary) of Salina and Randy of Weston, Florida; daughter Karen (Jerome) of Eugene, Oregon; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his sister Ann; brother Harold; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brothers Joseph and Charles Klaus; brother Lester Klaus; and Marilyn and Charlene Flax.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina.

Memorials may be made in Ken’s memory to St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church.
