Manhattan Woman Killed In Fall In Arizona

Police say an 18-year-old Kansas woman has died after falling from the 10th floor of a Tempe residential building.

Tempe Police Sgt. Mike Pooley said Naomi McClendon was transported to a local hospital early Sunday where she later died her injuries.

Authorities say both Tempe fire and police responded to the scene to investigate the fall and treat the victim for injuries.

Police say alcohol appears to be a factor.

McClendon has ties to Manhattan. She is a Manhattan High School graduate who was attending school at Ariona State University studying nonprofit leadership and management. She is the daughter of Manhattan High School Director of Orchestras Nate McClendon, and Manhattan High School Language Arts Teacher Judy McClendon.
