A meeting to look at some lighting used in a Salina bar turned into a terrifying experience for a woman and rape charges for the man suspected of holding her against her will.

Police arrested 29-year-old Kyle W. Baxter of Salina after a 29-year-old woman contacted authorities over the weekend.

The victim told officers that she and a group of friends were at the Paramount Bar and Grill, 219 N. Santa Fe on Saturday and went to a basement office with Baxter to look at some lighting she had admired and wanted to purchase.

The woman said Baxter would not let her leave the basement and sexually assaulted her.

Police spoke with Baxter at his residence and arrested him for 1 count of rape and 1 count of criminal restraint.
