Man Accused of Slipping in DQ Window Left Clues

A suspect’s mail found near a crime scene – leads to his arrest.

Officers arrested 30-year-old James Allen Commerford, 1661 W. Republic Ave., on Tuesday in connection to burglaries committed at two Salina businesses.

According to Lt. Sean Morton, Commerford allegedly slipped through the drive-thru window at the Dairy Queen, 321 N 9th during the overnight hours of Monday into Tuesday, and stole food items and a wireless modem.

Police say he also rummaged through a tool box on a company vehicle at Summit Plumbing,317 N. 12th and stole two empty gas cans.

Officers used the pieces of mail to trace the suspect back to his apartment.

Police say some of the items have been recovered.

Total loss was estimated $739.
