Injured State Trooper Improving

A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper who was injured in an accident on the Kansas Turnpike is improving at a Wichita hospital.

Wesley Medical Center officials say Trooper Da’von Brame was upgraded to fair condition Wednesday.

Brame was injured Tuesday evening while sitting in his vehicle after he pulled over a semi-trailer for an inspection in east Wichita. His car was hit from behind by a pickup truck. The pickup driver suffered minor injuries.

The pickup driver has been issued at least six speeding tickets in recent years. The driver told authorities he sneezed right before he hit Brame’s car. He was checked for alcohol or drug use and investigators are trying to determine if he was talking on his cell phone before the accident.
