Kansas Governor Laura Kelly is issuing a verbal state of disaster emergency proclamation.

The state of disaster emergency takes effect today and continues through the weekend due to the Red Flag Warnings in the western part of the state.

The disaster declaration will make resources available to provide state assistance to communities in need.
