A stolen vehicle is recovered in the parking lot at the Salina Journal following a high speed pursuit Friday.
Captain Mike Sweeney tells News that an officer on patrol heard the description of a 1994 Toyota Tacoma truck on Friday afternoon and saw it driving past in the 700 block of South Street.
An attempt to stop the truck turned into a chase that reached speeds of 60 with the suspect running stop signs on 9th Street and Mulberry.
The pursuit was called off for safety reasons after the truck crossed Santa Fe.
Police recovered the truck later at the Salina Journal, 222 SE. 4th Street and say the steering column and wiring had been torn apart by the thief.
Damage is estimated at $1,000.
Police say the truck was stolen from the 1400 block of East Iron sometime between Thursday at 5pm and Friday at 2:43pm before the chase began.
No arrests have been made.
