Dole To Dedicate Mobile VA Unit

KSAL StaffJune 30, 2014

Former Sen. Bob Dole plans to visit his Kansas hometown Wednesday to dedicate a new mobile unit for use by the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center.

A spokeswoman says the dedication will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Russell’s VFW Post 6240, located on Bob Dole Drive.

The Dole Medical Center in Wichita serves 59 Kansas counties. It also operates six Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Hays, Salina, Hutchinson, Dodge City, Liberal and Parsons.

The new mobile unit will bring health and education services to veterans in rural Kansas.

Wednesday’s event comes one day after the 90-year-old former senator visits five northern Kansas communities to meet friends and supporters, in the latest leg of his yearlong homecoming tour.
