Dog Next Door is Man’s Best Friend

A neighbor’s dog warns a Salina man of would-be thieves in his yard.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that around 2:30am Thursday morning, Charles Kirby heard a dog barking next door to his home at 605 W. Grand and looked out the window.

Kirby told police he then saw three teens dressed in dark hoodies trying to take his Craftsman 3600 watt generator from his backyard.

He called police but the trio left the yard empty handed before officers arrived.

Police say the generator, which is valued at $590 was chained to a fixed object in the yard.
