Charges Filed in Ottawa County Murder

KSAL StaffAugust 31, 2017

Charges have been filed in connection with an Ottawa County murder. According to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s Office, a Maine man who was arrested in California has been charged with second degree-intentional murder and related charges

Schmidt on Wednesday filed criminal charges against 34-year-old Robert Willard Colson of Bucksport, Maine, in connection with the death of Matthew Miles Schoshke on August 11 in rural Ottawa County. On Saturday, Aug. 12, Schoshke’s body was discovered by a family member in his Tescott area home. Schoshke’s Ford F150 pickup truck was also stolen from the scene.

The charges are one count of murder in the second degree-intentional and two counts of felony theft. Colson remains in custody in California awaiting extradition to Kansas.

The attorney general’s office accepted the case for prosecution at the request of the Ottawa County Attorney’s Office.
