Call for Help Not Heard by Neighbors

KSAL StaffApril 10, 2014

A Salina man fires a shotgun as a call for help.

According to Captain Mike Sweeney, 67-year-old John N. Jednoralski became wedged between his bed and a wall at about 10:30pm on Wednesday night in his home in the 2000 block of Brookwood.

Jednoralski told officers after unsuccessfully trying to free himself – he decided to fire a 12-gauge shotgun that was in reach to alert his neighbors.

After waiting nearly two hours without any response, the man was able to wriggle free to a phone and call police.

Police say the shot went through an interior bedroom wall and out the front window. There were no injuries.

Captain Sweeney tells KSAL News that the circumstances for unlawful discharge of a firearm will be reviewed.
