Book Sale to Benefit Salina Public Library

Volunteers are sorting thousands of books that are going on sale at the Salina Public Library this weekend.

Books from the library’s shelves and donated items from the public will provide stacks of selections for patrons to choose from.

“We’ll have people lined up at 9am Saturday morning to get in there first and just kind of browse around,” said Library Director Joe McKenzie.

“We’ll have families come so there is different generations. There will be grandparents and grandchildren coming and talking about books and taking them home, and the books are so inexpensive.”

Mckenzie tells KSAL News that Saturday, paperbacks are priced at 50 cents or some for a dollar. Hardback books go for $2 each. Sunday – is a bag sale,

“Bring a sack and fill it up for $5, McKenzie said.

“It’s a fundraiser, it’s our Friends of the Library major fundraiser they do two or three book sales a year,” he added.

Movies on DVD’s and VHS tapes will also be up for sale during the weekend.

The Friends of the Library Book Sale is Saturday, October 29 from 9am to 3pm and Sunday, October 30 from 1pm to 3pm in the Prescott Room at Salina Public Library located at 301 W. Elm Street.
