“Big Red One” Free Holiday Concert

KSAL StaffDecember 4, 2016

The 1st Infantry Division Band will once again join forces with the Junction City Community Band for a free holiday concert.

The holiday revue will begin at 7:30 p.m. each night, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Victor Wong, director of the Junction City Community Band, and Frank Tracz, professor of music and director of bands at Kansas State University, will join the band as guest conductors.

This is the third time the two bands have teamed up to fill the historic opera house with the sounds of the season. This year’s concert will feature holiday favorites woven into “an incredible story.”

“For us at the 1st Inf. Div. Band, it’s our favorite time of year,” said Spc. Lawrence Evans, senior producer with the 1st Inf. Div. Band. “This is the season for joy, happiness, connection and giving. And there is no better way to give back to a community that is so supportive and loving than by joining the Junction City Community Band and giving a superb holiday concert.”

The free concert is Dec. 16th and 17th at the C.L. Hoover Opera House in Junction City.
