A bicycle rider is hit by a truck and killed Thusday night.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 49-year-old Mark Jilka from Manhattan was riding a bicycle along K 177 Highway, headed south on the right shoulder of the road. He was hit from behind by a pickup truck that was also headed south.

Jilka was killed knocked into the ditch, and killed. The driver of the truck, 32-year-old Derik Kessler from Rossville, was not hurt.

The crash happened at 7:10 Thursday night, 3 miles south of Manhattan on K 177 Highway.
