Arrests In Copper Theft Case

Salina Police arrest a couple of people from Wichita in connection with a copper wire theft.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney says that a lock box on a pickup parked at Motel 6 on West Diamond Drive was broken into. Items taken include 150 feet of 2-0 copper wire, and 15 feet of #2 copper wire.

Total loss and damage was estimated at $600.

A short time later, the wire was located at Salina Iron and Metal where it had been sold. Officers then found two people who allegedly sold the wire. Both were located back at the motel.

Police arrested 28-year-old Kevin Taylor of El Dorado and 51-year-old Teresa Kincade of Wichita. Both could face multiple charges that include vehicle burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property.

Officers also arrested 39-year-old Stephanie Oropesa of Wichita. She could face a charge of felony obstruction for allegedly helping Taylor try to hide at the motel.
