Theft Scheme Thwarted

A quick thinking staff member at a Salina fast food restaurant thwarted a theft scheme.

Police Sergeant Jim Feldman tells KSAL News that an employee at Dairy Queen, 1000 E. Buckeye was contacted over the phone by a man claiming to be with the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The scammer told the employer her boss had been arrested and he was asking her to bail her out with $350 from the business.

The “trooper” told her they would drive up and she could bring the cash out to the car.

The employee became suspicious and called her boss – to find out he was not in custody.

Police say the staff did see a black 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pull into the restaurant’s lot a short time later but could not confirm if they were involved in the scheme.
