Arrest In Connection With Tag Office Incident

A rural Saline County man is now facing charges in connection with an incident at the county tag office.

According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, 52-year-old Steven Lee Streit of 7200 E Farrelly Road was arrested Thursday afternoon.

Streit allegedly threatened to bring guns to the county tag office and “shoot up the place” .

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says that Streit was frustrated when he could not resolve tax and tags issue last Wednesday afternoon and began shouting. An employee behind the counter hit the alert button to summon deputies for help.

Kochanowski says in a world where people are already on edge about shootings in public buildings, that citizens need to pause before they speak, “Those kind of utterances send up all kind of antennas these days,” he said.

Streit was arrested on a warrant for Criminal Threat and Disorderly Conduct.
