Fog Causes Crash West of Salina

Dense fog appears to be responsible for a two-car crash west of Salina on Tuesday night.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan tells KSAL News that the crash occurred at 9:46 p.m. at the intersection of Crawford St. and K-140 Highway.

66-year-old Ellsworth woman, Patricia Grove, was traveling eastbound on K-140 and was attempting to make a right turn on to Crawford. Due to the fog, she didn’t slow down enough and struck a vehicle coming from the opposite direction sitting at a stop sign at the intersection.

Grove’s 2017 Hyundai Sonata clipped the front of a 2011 GMC Acadia SUV driven by Caresa Griffith, 39, Ellsworth. Grove’s vehicle also took out the stop sign before coming to a rest in a nearby ditch.

Grove was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center complaining of chest pain after the accident. Griffith was uninjured.

Both cars were towed from the scene.
