John Phillip McClaskey

John Phillip McClaskey, 82, of Marion, Kansas, passed away at 8:48 a.m., Thursday, January 10th, 2019 peacefully, at St. Lukes Living Center.

John was born in Belleville, Kansas on April 18, 1936, a son of Dr. Claget and Velna (Hallock) McClaskey.

John attended the Cuba Kansas Public Schools, Kansas State University, Manhatten, Kansas and Kansas School of Barbering, Wichita, Kansas.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in McPherson.

Through the years John worked as a carpenter for a construction company in Belleville, Kansas, was an owner, operator and barber of Family Barber for 20 years and owned McClaskey Cabinets, McPherson, Kansas.

John was a member of the Masonic Lodge #172 , Elks Club B.P.O.E., McPherson, Kansas

John enjoyed woodworking, watching Nascar and the Kansas City Royals baseball, growing tomatoes and spending time with family and friends.

John P. McClaskey was united in marriage to Cleora P. Hicks on May 27, 1956 in Agenda, Kansas. This young couple established their first home together in Agenda. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Martin, Susan and Michael.

He is survived by his wife Cleora McClaskey, of Marion, Kansas; his children, Susy Gullett and her husband Buddy, of Nevada, Missouri; Michael McClaskey and his wife Melanie, of McPherson, Kansas and

his favorite feline “Kitty”. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam Gullett(Andrea), Kaitlin Drallmeier(Jake) and Joseph McClaskey; his great-granddaughters, Alexa Drallmeier, Adeline Drallmeier and Olivia Gullett

John was preceded in death by his parents; his son Martin and his brother Paul McClaskey.

A Time of Remebrance will be held on January 19, 2019 from 9:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

The graveside Service will be held on January 19, 2019 at 10:30 at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas, with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating.

The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas
