Vaughn Dean Mignot, age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, after a long battle with dementia.
Born September 24, 1946 in Salina, Kansas, he was one of two sons to Donald and Elda Mignot. He attended school at Gypsum, Kansas and received his bachelor’s degree at Kansas State University.
He started his career in banking at the First National Bank in Salina. He later followed his entrepreneur spirit and became a real estate investor and part owner of LaHacienda Restaurant.
Vaughn enjoyed late night gigs with the band, playing pool, writing music, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Vaughn is survived by his two daughters, Shawn Mignot, Stefany (Todd) Kaniper, his five grandchildren (Anna, Linzy, Allison, Morgan, and Ty), his newborn great grandchild (Porter), and his Last National Band brothers.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Denny, and his parents, Donald and Elda Mignot.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 9 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery on Farrelly Rd near Kipp.
The family would like to recognize the amazing people that provided excellent care for Vaughn through his time of need that allowed him to transition with dignity and respect. The family would also like to express gratitude to Tom Pestinger for the brotherhood he demonstrated to Vaughn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dignity Cares in care of Dignity Care Home, Interim Hospice of Salina, Gypsum Valley Community Foundation Fund or Salina Automobile Museum of America, DBA the Garage Fund.
