Randell “Randy” Victor Charest was born August 10th 1954, in Clay Center, Kansas, to Floyd and Gladys (Girard) Charest. He passed away peacefully on June 25th 2026 at Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas.
Randy grew up in Clay Center, Kansas. Graduating from Clay Center Community High School in 1972. Right after high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After enlisting he left shortly for boot camp, and soon after left to serve in Vietnam. After being wounded in Nam, he was honorably discharged. Once his return Randy came back to finish his degree to become a mechanic.
His career began at Skinner Motor Company where he spent many years as a service man doing estimates for body work. He later moved on to Hanson Ford where he worked until he retired due to his back. His summers and fall were spent helping Stanley Roberts and Arvine Hiner on their farms during harvest. Randy had a love for farming, often bringing his youngest daughters with him to ride along.
Randy was united in marriage with Patsy (Reed) and to this union two daughters were born Katrina and Lacey. They later divorced, and Randy found the love of his life Susan (Sheets). They were united in marriage on December 9th 1986 and to this union two more daughters were welcomed Jennifer and Courtney.
Randy was a member of the Fellowship Christian Church in Concordia, Kansas.
Randy enjoyed farming, watching Sunday football games, early morning YouTube while sneaking candy bars, and most of all his family and grand babies.
He was preceded in death by his biological father Floyd. His parents Max and Gladys. His loving wife Susan. Sister Laura Jean, and infant brother Michael.
Randy is survived by his siblings Junior (Floyd) Charest, Clay Center Ks, Dayleen (Charles) Knighten, Maud Oklahoma, and Deb Tucker, Russell Kansas. His Four Daughters, Katrina Charest, Hays Kansas, Lacey (Anthony) Smith, Junction City Kansas, Jennifer (Anthony) Tobald, Glasco Kansas, and Courtney (Mark) Newton, Clyde Kansas. Grandchildren Tyrell McLaughlin, Dillon South Carolina, Casey (Liz) Charest, Junction City Ks, Andreyous Smith, Junction City Ks, Azarion Smith, Junction City Ks, AJ (Bristol) Charest, Randolph Ks, MaKenna Smith, MaKenzie Smith, MaKenlee Tobald, Asher Tobald, Glasco Ks. Kylee and Korban Newton of Clyde Ks. Great Grandchildren Easton and Baby Girl Charest, Dallie Charest, and Gracelynn Tobald
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS with Pastor Al Paredes officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS where military and masonic honors will be conducted.
A Luncheon will be served after services at the Concordia American Legion Post #76, Concordia, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 1-8 pm, Monday, June 29, 2026 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS. Family will greet friends, Monday, June 29, 2026 at Chaput-Buoy from 6-7 pm.
