Charles Edward Cain

Charles Edward Cain, 81, passed away on June 15, 2026. He was born on February 15, 1945.

Charles lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for his family. He approached every job and responsibility with pride and a strong work ethic, always striving to do his very best. Over the years, he worked in several different occupations, earning the respect of coworkers and friends alike. He successfully operated his own business for several years, served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Presbyterian Manor, and most recently welcomed customers with his friendly smile as a greeter at Conklin Cars in Salina.

Above all, Charles cherished his family. He found great joy in spending time with those he loved and took pride in watching his family grow through the generations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Myrtle Cain, and seven brothers and sisters.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Reta Cain; his children, Carma Roberts (Kevin), Duane Cain (Mandie), and Greg Cain; his grandchildren, Emily Strome (Clansey), Ashley Miller (Brad), and Chandler Cain; his great-grandchildren, Charlette, Logan, Barrett, Elliott, and Jett; and his sister, Jean Kingery. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Charles will be remembered for his kindness, dependability, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he loved and who loved him in return.

One of Charles’s greatest joys was coaching baseball. The years he spent coaching left a lasting impact on countless young players. Even decades later, former players would often stop to visit him and share memories of those days on the ball field. Charles always remembered the stories, the games, and, most importantly, the people. He treasured those conversations and the relationships he built through the sport he loved.

“Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.”

Charles’s memory will be treasured always, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday June 23, 2026, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, KS.

Memorials may be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church, Salina, KS, or the American Heart Association.
