Earthquake Shakes Area

An earthquake shook Central Kansas Wednesday afternoon.

According to the U.S Geological Survey, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake, at a depth of 3.6 miles, was centered 3.1 miles east of Assaria in rural Saline County. It occurred at 2:14 Wednesday afternoon.

Residents reported tremors being felt across the area.

Earthquakes of this magnitude, ranging between 2.5 and 5.4, are often felt but only cause minor damage.
