A Saline County couple was scammed out of over $45,000 from their cryptocurrency account.
Captain Jim Hughes with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office tells KSAL News that on Friday the husband and wife received a message regarding a change to the PIN on their Robinhood financial strategy account.
They were convinced to call a number to clear up the matter and spoke to a man with a British accent. During the conversation, the couple provided account information they believed would update and secure the account.
A few hours later, the couple checked their account and discovered 8 coins valued at $45,866.45 were stolen from the account.
The investigation is ongoing.
