R. Jane Wilson, 99, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, in the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Sandy King.
Born to James and Alice Long, Jane was the cherished sibling of sister Ruth Eastman and brother Cleo Long, all of whom preceded her in death.
She was the beloved wife of the late Richard A. Wilson, whom she married on September 1, 1945. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter and raised a family that remained their greatest joy.
Fiercely independent, Jane lived on her own until recently and could often be seen driving her bright red Mustang—a car she bought brand new and dearly loved. Her spirit was as vibrant as that car, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys: sitting on her front porch chatting with neighbors, watching the birds, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature. In those everyday moments, she found peace and purpose.
Jane’s pies became a treasured family tradition, none more famous than her pear pie—still unmatched, according to her loved ones. Family gatherings were always filled with warmth, laughter, and love, and nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent with her family. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Jane was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Karen Russell (Jerry) of Cedar Vale, KS; her son-in-law, Kenneth Fee (the first husband of Sandy King); and Davy Babb (Teresa Rush’s significant other)
She is survived by her daughters, Sandy King (Mike) of Salina, KS, and Teresa Rush of Bradenton, FL; her beloved grandchildren, Leslie Arnold (Joe), Kristie Starling (Jason), Terri Carlson (Brent), Tim Rush, Randi Jo Ferguson (Ben), and Jami Stiles (Drew); her great-grandchildren, Kayla Arnold, Devon Arnold (Amberlee Delaney), Sydney Starling, Shelby Eikel, Jaxon Rush, Riley Grey (Trent), Daniel Ferguson, Jake Ferguson, and Taylor Ferguson; and her most recent blessing, great-great-grandson Jace Arnold.
A Celebration of Life is being planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jane’s memory may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1003 E. Albert Ave, Salina, KS.
