Melvin Sumpter, 67, passed away on May 03, 2025 at Kenwood in Salina, KS.

Melvin was born on March 10, 1958 in Beloit, KS as 1 of 16 children to parents Wayne and Ernestine Sumpter.

After graduating from Downs Kansas Melvin served in the Marines.

In his younger years he enjoyed traveling and working for the Carnival.

Melvin was a quiet shy man and enjoyed fishing and his family.

Melvin is survived by ; Sisters: Norleen Sumpter,  Napanee (Rocky) Driggs, Charlotte Becker, Brothers: Carl (Tami) Sumpter, Richard (Penny) Sumpter, Lloyd Sumpter, Jerry Sumpter, Allen Sumpter. Along with Numerous Nieces and Nephews

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Ernestine along with sisters Diana, Josephine, Carol, Edith, Liz and brothers David and Norman

Graveside services will be held at Downs cemetery in Downs, Kansas on May 17th at 10:30 am, with Pastor Hunter Spencer officiating.
