Paul Ralph White

Paul Ralph White, 77, formerly of Omaha, NE passed peacefully at his Salina, KS home surrounded by his family on Sunday April, 20th 2025.

Paul was born on September 18th, 1947 to Melvin and Ellen (Reber) White in Seneca, KS. He was born the 3rd of 5 children and grew up in Glen Elder, KS. Growing up he attended Vermillion grade school, and after moving graduated from Glen Elder Highschool in 1965. After graduating, Paul attended Fort Hays State University, pursuing a degree in Business.

Paul started his lifetime career with Union Pacific while attending Fort Hays State University and worked as a brakeman and various other positions. After graduating, he worked for a short stint with Beechcraft before he moved into an IT role with the railroad, where he devoted the rest of his career, until his retirement in 2008.

Paul married Carol (Pfannenstil) on July 3rd, 1987 in Salina, Kansas at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, and lived out his years happily surrounded by his loving wife and family. Paul was diligent in being present and involved with his family, especially with his grandchildren. Always calling just to check in, having spontaneous lunch dates, and offering advice, support and guidance in all that he did. He also made a point of never missing a Chiefs game, always with at least one grandkid beside him, and was sure to be found shouting at the TV during each and every game. The Royals and baseball also held a special place in his heart. Every summer, he and Carol would take the grandkids to watch the 4th of July game at Rosenblatt Stadium to cheer on the Omaha Royals and watch the fireworks show afterwards. After moving to Kansas, he attended many Kansas City Royals games with grandkids and his wife. Another important event was the annual White family reunion in Vermillion. He and Carol would attend every year, and he always looked so forward to catching up with his many cousins and other family members.

Most notably, Paul will be remembered as an avid storyteller. Working with the Railroad, he traveled to many parts of the country and his knowledge and stories of those trips provided a lifetime of conversation, laughs and learning opportunities. Paul was always someone who you could count on for a laugh, always joking, and getting a rise out of the grandkids or family members.

In his free time, Paul loved the outdoors. Golfing, Hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends was a beloved past time for him. He was also proficient in skeet shooting, winning various awards in competitions. His unwavering love for agriculture was a point of pride for him, having grown up in rural Kansas, helping with farm work, his roots ran deep. Even in his retirement he made a point of driving around frequently to check fields and crops, especially after a storm, so he always knew when to expect harvest, or how the crops were yielding through various bouts of Kansas weather.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ellen, brothers Charlie and Bernie, a sister, Dorothy (Fisher), a niece Elaina (White) Brightbill, and son-in-law Clark Moseman.

Paul is survived by his wife Carol, of the home, a son Chris (Michelle) of Salina, a daughter Margo Moseman of Freemont Nebraska, granddaughters Sara (Lance) Nelson, Natasha, Paige and Brooklyn Norwood, grandsons Tyler and Jayden Norwood all of Salina, Jeremy Brown of Freemont, NE and Chelsea (Michael) Dolejs of Hooper Nebraska, and six great grandchildren, Journi, Cruz, Addison, Christiano, Colby and Isabella all of Salina.

He was a man whose knowledge and love for family knew no bounds, and will be so dearly missed.
