Edward “Ed” Eugene Ingram

Edward “Ed” Eugene Ingram, 81, of Salina, Kansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 6, 2025. He was born in Wichita, KS, on September 29, 1943, to Eugene and Ernestine Ingram.

Ed spent 4 years in the Navy and trained as an electrician on nuclear subs, launching a career in working on and around electronics in both the service and manufacturing industries. He enjoyed the puzzle and science of making or fixing things out of little parts.

Ed’s faith grew after seeking guidance in counseling, with the support of his wife, Linda, and through his friendships at his church. He valued his faith not just in word but in deed, choosing to donate to those things for which he held empathy and passion. He cherished the friendships he gained from First Baptist Church Salina.

Driven by insatiable curiosity, Ed was known to devour books, binge watch obscure science videos on the internet, or get lost in pages of research. To strike up a conversation with him would risk hours-long dialogue of philosophical thought. There was no topic too big and no question too small for Ed. He was even known to email professors at universities from all over the world to get an answer if his research failed him, despite rarely getting a satisfactory response from those missives.

Ed is survived by his sister, Linda Katzer of Independence, MO; son, Eric (Jackie) Cole of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters, Christine (Lynn) Cavaness of Nowata, OK, and Amanda (Austin) Little of Salina; an “inherited” daughter, Adie (Brad) Fields of Huntsville, TX; grandchildren, Stephen (Jessica) Cole of Leyden Park, CO, Ryan (Rebecca) VanGorder of Fountain, CO, Jens Cole and partner Kimberly Nishimoto of Golden, CO, Matthew Cole of Fort Morgan, CO, Logan (Kimberly) Cole of Fort Morgan, Timothy Cole and partner Niobe Cardona of Fort Morgan, Linsy (Brian) Kordatzky of Tulsa, OK, and Caddock and Isaac Little of Salina; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his spouse, Linda (Ravenkamp) Ingram; former spouse, Sandra Lou Pontius; son, Zachary Ingram; brother, Robert Ingram; and his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Greater Salina Community Foundation in memory of Ed Ingram. Online condolences may be left at www.ryanmortuary.com
