50 MPH Wind Causes Minor Damage

KSAL StaffNovember 3, 2013

Strong wind around the area Sunday caused minor damage.

According to the National Weather Service, strong south wind of 30 to 40 mph with gusts over 50 mph were felt across Central Kansas on Sunday afternoon. These strong winds knocked down some tree limbs and blew over some road signs.

The stong wind is a prelude to a storm system developing in the rockies. By late Tuesday night there will be a good chance for showers and thunderstorms across Central Kansas, with much cooler temperatures.

Rain mixing with snow is possible in Western Kansas by late Tuesday into Wednesday.

Peak Wind Gusts Across The Area:

57 MPH Lincoln County
56 MPH Russell Airport
53 MPH Great Bend Airport
52 MPH Hutchinson Airport
51 MPH Salina Airport
