4 Arrested after Bogus ID’s and Drugs Found

A traffic stop leads to 4 drug related arrests. According to Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney, an officer on patrol saw a group of people riding in a car who were not buckled up and pulled them over in the 700 block of S. Broadway at about 2:14am Thursday.

Police say the driver was arrested at the scene for driving on a suspended license, and police then found 43-year-old Brandon Jordan of Topeka in possession of methamphetamine.  Police then searched the 3 passengers in the car and found meth and drug paraphernalia which led to a search warrant for the motel where they were staying.

Once inside a room at the Travel Lodge, 245 S. Broadway, officers found a computer, printer and computer generated company checks made out to aliases.

Police say they found multiple temporary drivers licences that had been forged with a picture of 32-year-old Dustin Lund of Topeka. Lund is facing charges of ID theft, forgery and drug possession.

Thirty one-year-old Jerry Smith and 25-year-old Amber Helton of Topeka both face multiple charges that could include possession of meth.

Captain Sweeney tells KSAL News that the investigation is ongoing as police look for any evidence that the group used the checks to receive cash.
