A Lincoln, Kansas man is booked into the Saline County Jail on charges that include attempted 2nd degree murder in a domestic assault case in Salina.

According to Captain Mike Sweeney, 25-year-old Sawyer A. Reinert was taken into custody on Saturday in Ellsworth County and transported to the jail.

Sweeney says the investigation began after a woman in her 20’s was treated at the hospital for cuts and bruises on her face and red marks on her throat.

She also suffered a fractured bone in one eye socket.

Police say Reinert entered her home in south Salina uninvited and the two argued.

Reinert then allegedly hit the woman, strangled her and bit her on the back of the neck.

Officers say he also hit the woman’s toddler bruising his face.

He is now facing multiple charges that include attempted 2nd degree murder, child abuse and criminal damage to property.
