Police: Gun Accidentally Discharged in Man’s Death

Salina Police have identified a man who died from a gunshot wound in an apparent accidental shooting on Sunday.
Police Captain Chris Trocheck tells KSAL News that 28-year-old Bryant Sanchez of Salina died at the hospital on Sunday morning after showing a new gun he had recently purchased to a group of friends gathered in a driveway in the 1900 block of Dover.
Police say the .40 caliber handgun accidentally discharged and the bullet struck Sanchez in the head.
Sanchez was transported to Salina Regional Health Center and died a short time later.
Salina Police are investigating a shooting death in the 1900 block of Dover. According to Captain Chris Trocheck, witnesses called police on Sunday morning at 6:34am after a 28-year-old white male was shot with a handgun in a driveway outside a residence. Police say the man was transported to Salina Regional Health Center and died a short time later. Police are not looking for any suspects in the shooting. The victim has not been identified until next of kin are contacted. Captain Trockeck tells KSAL News that they are still investigating the circumstances that led up to the gunshot. Police say the man did not reside at the home but was an invited guest.
