A Salina man is taken into custody for driving off in a car he did not have permission to operate.

Preston Cressler, 29 of Salina was arrested on a warrant Sunday for an incident that police say occurred in early July.

According to Captain Mike Sweeney, Cressler took a 2008 Mazda CX7 from an acquaintance who owns the car, which is valued at $2,500.

The vehicle has not been recovered.

Cressler is being charged with failure to appear and theft of property.
