A tenant being evicted from a Salina rental property is alleged to have left a parting gift, in the form of thousands of dollars of damage.

Police say that the landlord of a property at 315 N. 10th Street found extensive damage Tuesday afternoon when he went to serve an eviction notice. Damage includes:

• broken light fixtures
• broken ceiling tiles
• broken storm doors
• broken concrete steps

There also was extensive damage from paint that was sprayed throughout the inside of the rental.

Total damage is estimated at $26,000.
