State Officials Foresee 2022 Budget Surplus; Boost Revenue Forecast

MetrosourceNovember 12, 2021

Kansas budget officials are increasing the state’s projected revenues for this fiscal year.

If that one-point-three-billion-dollar budget figure comes to fruition, lawmakers say the state could finish the 2022 fiscal year with a $2.89-billion-dollar budget surplus.

Leaders on both sides of the aisle say such a surplus could enable lawmakers to consider eliminating the current state tax on food sales.
