State Army National Guard, Forest Service Personnel Assist in Wildfire-Response Efforts

The Kansas Army National Guard and Kansas Forest Service are participating in efforts to fight wildfires in multiple counties in western and central Kansas.

The deployment of personnel from both agencies reportedly was made possible by Governor Laura Kelly’s declaration of a State of Disaster Emergency more than a week ago.

Authorities say most of the state is under one of three fire danger-outlook conditions: “enhanced,” “significant” or “critical.
