Shelter Closes Due to Parvovirus

MetroSourceOctober 8, 2019

A Newton animal shelter is temporarily closed due to a virus.

Officials at the Caring Hands Humane Society say three dogs at the shelter died from parvovirus.

Officials say a man brought in a stray dog last month that later tested positive for parvo, which later spread to two other dogs.

Shelter officials say the best way to stop parvovirus is for people to vaccinate their dogs.
