Senator Coming Home to Listen

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran is coming home to Kansas with his ears open.

The former Big 1st Congressman joined in on the KSAL Morning News Thursday with a look at his upcoming Town Hall Meeting in Marion.

With healthcare making headlines everyday, Senator Moran is expecting big crowds.

Moran reflected on a meeting he held in McPherson County back in 2009. “The largest number of attendees I ever had at a town hall meeting, was in Lindsborg during the summer of Obama Care,” he said.

“More than 300 people showed up to talk about Obama Care.”

“And we’re serving free pancakes at this one,” he added.

Moran will return to Marion on Monday, November 25th to host his 1,000 Town Hall Meeting as he begins another listening tour around the state with stops planned in Garden City and Holton as well.

Senator Moran will be at the Marion Community Center Ballroom on N. 3rd Street from 11:30am until 1pm.

Since his election to the U.S. Senate, Senator Moran has held a town hall in each of Kansas’ 105 counties. As the Representative for Kansas’ First Congressional District, Marion was the location of his first town hall meeting on July 18, 1997.

Then-Congressman Moran traveled to each of the district’s 69 counties during his annual “Big First Listening Tour.”
