Seller Beware

KSAL StaffAugust 30, 2016

A Saline County family is swindled out of $1,800 after trying to sell their daughter’s drums online.

According to Lt. Brent Melander with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, a family in northwest Saline County listed a set of Ludwig drums for sale on a website for $400.

On August 15, a potential buyer began texting the 14-year-old girl regarding the drums.

Trust was built after days of texting between the two, until the parents agreed on August 26 to deposit an $1,800 check from the buyer and send back the balance to them via Western Union.

Lt. Melander says the family contacted authorities after the bogus check did not clear the bank and they discovered they had been duped for $1,800.
