Sculpture Damaged in DUI Accident

KSAL StaffDecember 13, 2017

A well known piece of artwork was damaged after vehicle crashed in to it around 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Police Capt. Paul Forrester says the vehicle was trying to park in a stall in the 100 block of N. Santa Fe, when the 1994 Ford Ranger kept going and hopped the curb, subsequently ramming in to the sculpture known as “Any Way the Wind Blows,” just north of Ad Astra Coffee.

The driver of the pickup, 33 year-old Michael Arthur–who is homeless–was injured in the accident. He was then sent to the hospital and is charged with Driving Under the Influence and cited for no proof of insurance, no seat belt and refusal to submit a breathalyzer test.

The accident caused $1,000 in damage.

Michael Arthur, 33, homeless. Arrested for DUI.
