Saline County Back-to-School Fair Seeking Exhibitors

Organization and businesses are invited to participate in the annual Saline County Back-to-School Fair July 28 at Lakewood Middle School. On behalf of the Healthy Community/Healthy Youth Initiative and other local sponsors, the community is invited to participate.

“Booths are an educational venue for families of Saline County to see what opportunities are available for their children and their family in Saline County.  Booths are strongly encouraged to be interactive. If exhibitors would like to have any give-a-way items, we strongly encourage school supply type items,” said Debra Wood, exhibitor co-chair.

Booths at the annual event provide information about activities for children, youths, and families, as well as services that are available. Over 30 exhibitors have set up booths at previous Back to School Fairs. The cost of each booth will be as follows:  $20/Non-Profit Organizations and $35/Other Agencies and Service Providers. Registration forms are available on the Salina Area United Way website at http://www.unitedwaysalina.org/community-service-agencies.  Questions about booth space can be directed to Debra Wood at 785-309-5850. Registration deadline is July 14, 2017.

Through the support of community sponsors, this event will provide an opportunity to distribute free basic school supplies to 1,800 income-eligible Saline County K-12 students, free school and sports physicals, free dental screens and cavity protection along with children’s activities and more. The Back to School Fair is scheduled for Friday, July 28 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lakewood Middle School, 1135 Lakewood Circle.

To qualify for the free basic school supplies, students must live in Saline County or be enrolled in a school in Saline County, be a K-12 student in the 2017-2018 school year, and must qualify for free or reduced school lunches.
