Run to Raise Awareness and Funds

Law enforcement officers from around Saline County will be lighting the way on Friday to help special athletes with the annual Torch Run for Special Olympics Kansas.

Participants will gather at the Law Enforcement Center, 251 N. 10th Street at 2pm and run to Jerry Ivey Park.

The public is welcome to join the run or line up along the route to encourage runners in the event. To sign up go online to www.ksso.org

Leutenint Scott Trembly with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office has been part of the Special Olympics Torch Run for over a decade and tells KSAL News he’s focused on athletes, “It’s not about who raises the most money, runs the farthest or whatever.” he said.

“It’s about doing all we can do for the special athletes.”

Beginning at 2pm Friday, a host of local law enforcement members will be gathering at the starting line to do their part in raising money and awareness for Special Olympics.
