Norma May Baker

Norma May Baker, age 88, a resident of Salina, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2024.

Norma was born in Woodbine, Kansas to William and Sarah Schultz. Norma grew up on a farm outside of Woodbine. She was the youngest of 15 children.

Norma met Ronald Baker in the summer of 1953. They did not meet again until Ron came home from the Army in 1955. Ron and Norma were married on August 4, 1956. Ron had to ship out again one week after the wedding.

After Ron completed his service in the Army they moved to Salina, Kansas. They resided in Salina, Kansas their entire lives. Norma is the beloved mother of Mark, Mike (deceased), Rod, Randy, and Ron. Norma was an active member of Grace Baptist Fellowship. She served as the church pianist and sang in the choir. The Baker Family toured and provided special music and encouragement to many churches in the Kansas area and across the western United States. Norma continued to work outside the home in retail sales. She worked in the family business as well as other retail businesses retiring from JC Penny’s. Norma spent her time after retirement making quilts for friends and family including all family pets. Her joy was loving on her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ron, her son, Michael, her grandson, Kurt, and her siblings and parents.

She is survived by Mark Edward Baker and his wife, Debra Baker of Monument, Colorado; Rodney Alan Baker and his wife, Rhonda Baker of Orange, California; Randall Ray Baker of Salina, Kansas; and Ronald James Baker of Calhan, Colorado. She has 7 grandchildren including Kendra Baker, Kyle Baker, Ashley Baker, Kelly (Baker) Dev and her husband, Purushottam, Courtney Baker, John Baker and his wife, Chelsi Stapleton, and James Baker. Daughters-in-law Marcenda Baker and Charlotte Baker.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in the Grace Baptist Church in Salina, KS. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina, KS.
