Gerry “Goose” Lee Gosselin

Gerry “Goose” Lee Gosselin, age 74 entered rest on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, in Salina, Kansas. He was born on September 22nd, 1947, in Concordia, Kansas to Zella (Comeau) and Almer Gosselin.

He was the third child out of eight children and attended Notre Dame High School in Concordia. After high school, he joined the Navy and after serving a little over a year he was honorably discharged. While in the Navy he got the National Defense Service Medal. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went back home, to Concordia, and started working at Wyatt’s Manufacturing in Salina, Kansas.

In August of 1968, he met his wife, Cindy at St. John’s Hospital in Salina, while he was a patient. He proposed to Cindy on December 6th, 1968, and they were married on February 15th, 1969, in Concordia. They welcomed their first child together, Patricia, in December 1969 and their second child, Maurice, in March of 1972.

He joined the Army National Guard on January 25th, 1974, to which he served for twenty-three years where he was honorably discharged on February 25th, 1997. While in the Army National guard, he received many different medals and accommodations. He began working as a janitorial Staff for USD 305 and then he started at Salina Regional Health Center as environmental services in 2000 and retired in 2010. After he retired from the hospital, he enjoyed his years of retirement by riding his bicycle, watching football games at either the local high school or college, and spending time with his grandchildren, children, and wife.

He was a proud grandfather of four grandchildren and was also a proud great grandfather of five great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Dale, his older sister Patricia, and his younger brother Ronnie.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy, his two children, Patricia (Pat) and Maurice, his grandchildren, Billy (Emerald), Melissa, Kimberly, and Mikey, and his great grandchildren, Alexander, Sofia, Odin, and Ares, and one great grandchild on the way, T’ana, all of whom are from Salina. He is also survived by his younger brother, Lawrence Gosselin of Oxford, Kansas, his younger sister Betty (Tom) Hahn of Oviedo, Florida, his younger sister Theresa (Michael) Hoffhines of Salina, Kansas, his younger brother, Donnie of Beloit, Kansas, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friends, Barry Hoffman, and Paul Gebhardt.
