KSAL StaffOctober 31, 2018

Eleanor Randel Smith passed away on October 27, 2018. Eleanor was born and raised in Emporia, KS. She met Max Smith in 1946 and they were married in May 1948. In 1954, they moved to their forever home in Salina. Eleanor was a longtime teacher in the Salina school system. She was also active in civic organizations and dedicated much of her time to the First Presbyterian Church.

Eleanor never met a stranger. She always had a welcome smile and kind words for all who crossed her path. She loved family and friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by Max and her parents, Marshall and Ethel (Ireland) Randel. She is survived by her son, Stan Smith, McPherson and daughters, Connie (Kevin) Knight and Carol (Bob) Fairrington, both of Arizona. She has seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church; and in remembrance of Eleanor, think of her next time someone smiles at you.
