Minneapolis Mourns Loss Of Longtime Teacher, Coach

Minneapolis is mourning the loss of a longtime teacher and coach.

Jeff Giles passed away on Tuesday.

Giles was the head high school football coach, junior and senior high head wrestling coach, and he coached junior and senior high track all at the Minneapolis Junior Senior High School. Coach Giles began teaching and coaching in the Minneapolis U.S.D. 239 school district back in 1987.

Coach Giles very active in Minneapolis, founding the Ottawa County Wrestling Club.

Coach Giles was well respected by his peers around the state. He was the recipient of the first Officials Sportsmanship Coach of the Year in 2002 and he was also awarded 3-2-1 A Coach of the Year that same year.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday. Wilson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
