Kansas officials are preparing to issue new revenue projections to guide legislators and Governor Sam Brownback in making budget decisions.

Forecasters are scheduled to meet Wednesday to revise earlier projections for the current fiscal year. From July through October, tax collections were $27 million less than anticipated.

The forecasters also plan to issue the first official revenue projections for the fiscal year that begins in July 2014.

The current forecast was issued in April and predicts state revenues of $5.9 billion during the current fiscal year.

The figure is 7 percent lower than the $6.3 billion collected during the last fiscal year because of massive personal income tax cuts.

The forecasters include legislative researchers, members of Brownback’s budget staff, Department of Revenue officials and university economists.
