Hungry Squatter Arrested

A squatter who was asked to leave a Salina man’s camper was arrested after allegedly starting a fire on Thursday afternoon.

Police Captain Gary Hanus tells KSAL News that officers were called to the 400 block of W. North Street around 3:30pm after a man named Kaddies N. Kaddies reportedly put a stack of magazines into a frying pan and lit it in the camper’s kitchen.

Police say the fire was extinguished before any damage was done to the camper or the man’s house.

Kaddies told officers he was planning on cooking some food. The property owner and the suspect do not know each other.

Kaddies is now facing charges that could include arson of a non dwelling, burglary of a non dwelling and criminal trespass.
