An Abilene man was killed in a two-vehicle head on crash on Interstate Thursday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 34-year-old Ryan Pack of Abilene was driving a Chevrolet Equinox headed east. He crossed the center line and collided head-on with an oncoming Kenworth semi. The Equinox caught fire following the crash.
Pack was killed in the crash. The driver of the semi had no apparent injuries.
The crash happened in a construction area about a mile and a half west of Chapman at 12:20 Thursday afternoon. The westbound lanes of that section of I-70 have been closed due to bridge construction work, necessitating one eastbound lane being used for westbound traffic.

ORIGINAL: Multiple first responders were at the scene Thursday afternoon of a fiery two-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 70 in Dickinson County near Chapman.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, I-70 was closed both directions between exits 295 and 275 following the fatal crash. All traffic was being guided north to K-18 Highway.
