Education Under Construction

Mild weather has helped keep thirteen construction projects on schedule around USD 305 buildings.

Superintendent Bill Hall joined in on the KSAL Morning News Friday with look from around the district, “We have four of those that will actually be completed this spring,” he said.

“We already have ribbon cuttings scheduled for Coronado on April 18th, Oakdale will be May 3rd. Meadowlark Ridge will be May 9th and Lakewood Middle School on May 16th.”

Hall added that construction at Cottonwood Elementary would be wrapped up in August.

Hall also updated the KSAL audience that Ramona Newsom was selected to serve on the School Board during a special meeting held on Tuesday.

“Newsom ran for the board in the last election and was the next highest vote getter,” Hall said.

“She’s very passionate about Salina public schools and she’ll be able to hit the ground running.”

Newsom will fill the seat left vacant by Dr. Phil Black this past January, who told the board he could not continue to make the time commitment needed because of a new job opportunity that he accepted.
